Tips For Romantic Cruises

The daily grind is a sure prescription for wearing the relationship with your spouse thin. A few days of privacy together at sea can be the perfect way to both refresh yourself and renew your commitment to your soulmate.

These days, it's all too easy to mistakenly think of our life partner as being a 'business partner.' We get caught up in the churn of day-to-day life, trying to keep our financial 'noses' above water. We divvy up the daily chores with our partner, and try our best to provide a good home environment and the other things our children need.

While this stuff is all well and good, it's imperative that we don't forget why we joined hands in the first place. That involves making it a point to spend quality time together. And there's no better way to do that than with a romantic cruiseromantic cruise for two.

Think about it: a few days together without life's normal distractions. No need to worry about being interrupted by the telephone, the doorbell, or the kids fighting over who gets the television next. Just the two of you aboard, with everything you need taken care of. All you have to do this evening is decide whether to catch the early show, or sit on deck and watch the sunset together.

Of course, your time away is limited, so you want to make each day at sea count as much as possible. There are many things you can do while aboard to show your mate how special they are. With this article, we'll try to shed light on ways to turn a good vacation into one your soulmate will cherish, with some simple tips you can easily take advantage of.

The First Day, Make Sure Your Partner Is Greeted By Gifts In The Stateroom

One of the easiest things you can do to impress your mate, before you even board the ship, is to jump online and visit the cruise line's website (or call them) to find him or her a gift. You'll likely find dozens of gift items that can be ordered and delivered to your stateroom before you board.

For the woman in your life, a bouquet of roses is a jaw-dropping thing to find waiting in her stateroom once you board. In fact, if you have any intention of buying her flowers while onboard, we strongly suggest that you pre-order so they're in your room from day one. Why? Due to customs regulations, you'll likely have to leave them aboard when you return home... so why not buy them early to enjoy them as long as possible while onboard?

Other gift ideas for either men or women include bath robes, candy, and various handy items such as sports drink bottles and handbags that are elegantly branded with the cruise line's logo. These items make great souvenirs to remember your trip.

Keep the Stateroom Gifts Going Each Day, Even If Today's Gift is Only a Hand-Written Note

I've heard it so many times from my wife... it's the 'little things' that they often cherish most. Just the fact that you do a little something each day, that lets them know you're thinking of them, is one of the things that holds the greatest value with them. If that means you simply leave a handwritten, romantic note on their bed this evening, it'll mean more than you may ever think.

Maybe one day he or she will walk in to find a bottle of wine, some cheeses and fruit, and you there waiting. Another day it could be a well-thought-out gift you purchased from one of the onboard shops. It doesn't really matter how much money you spend. The point is very simple and very potent: surprises in the stateroom are a very powerful, and very easy way to show your partner how much you care, each and every single day you're onboard.

Make it a Deliberate Point to Spend Romantic Time Together Each Day

This one shouldn't sound like a scheduled chore, but with the frantic lives we lead back home, it may feel that way sometimes. So while you're at sea, and the opportunity is easy to come by, make it a point each day to spend some 'couples time' together, even if it's only for a half hour. That may mean finding a quiet spot on deck one evening to watch that perfect sunset together. And yes, on a modern cruise ship, you can find space, on some outer deck somewhere, to enjoy privacy for a few minutes at the very least.

Another day that may mean taking your partner to a romantic dinner at one of the high-end, for a fee restaurants onboard. It could even mean some cuddle time in one of the hot tubs aboard, if you find one that's not overcrowded.

In a nutshell, even though you take a romantic cruise to spend time together, there are a zillion things going on in a zillion directions on a modern cruise ship at any given time. It's very easy to get separated when you want to go to the art auction, and your spouse wants to hit the waterslide, and that's okay to a certain extent. You should take advantage of as many of the amenities onboard as possible, even if that means taking different directions from time to time. But in the middle of all the hustle and bustle, don't forget why you took the voyage together in the first place. Make a deliberate effort each day to set aside one-on-one time with the person you love.

Be Willing To Bend on the Activities You'll Enjoy While Away

As tempting as it may be to take that golfing excursion while you're ashore, try your best to participate in excursions that your partner would enjoy as well. One-on-one time is important. but a shared experience through an enjoyable shore excursion means even more bonding time with your mate, and provides memories you can both share for a lifetime.

If you're the woman in this situation, remember that it won't hurt for you to bend a little here, either. Your husband may want to take you zip-lining through the jungle canopy. You may want to take him on a shopping trip downtown. Try to come together on something, even if it's a little of a stretch on both of your tastes. Perhaps a snorkeling trip, or even a visit to an ancient Mayan city would be something that would turn out to be a cherished, shared experience in the years to come.

You're already on the right track simply by putting a cruise vacation on your 'short list' of options for your couples trip. Be sure that, once you're onboard, you make the time count by taking deliberate steps toward mending a relationship that's all to often strained by the daily grind. Putting these simple but effective tips into action will help to ensure that your time away together is a rewarding, renewing experience for your relationship.
